There is just something inherently appealing and mesmerizing about creating things. I`ve always been drawn to the process of creation. Dreaming of new ideas and turning them into real, existing and highly functional desirable objects. Design has always been my life`s passion. From just obsessively building something as a child, not knowing yet where it would lead to learning industrial design as a profession and then just going all in on it. It became evident that this need for creating will manifest itself perpetually and there is no escape. Better to embrace it.
Norkke as a brand was originally born to represent a collection of designs that I felt the need to share with the world. Then some years passed in between with various other adventures until a new idea started taking hold in my mind. I was working in wooden houses industry back then and seeing more and more possibilities yet unrealized of combining natural wooden materials with modern technology and design. Architecture and construction industry can be so modern yet extremely traditional at the same time. New ideas chained and governed by old well known ways of doing things. It all seemed like a challenge for innovation just too great to pass. What could I create with all this cool tech and beautiful timeless materials? What kind of a building would benefit the most from it? Maybe a truly modern tiny house utilizing every possibility and advantage of modern tech and materials for best function, aesthetics and sustainabilty. Wait... How about a sauna?
Decision of committing to the sauna world was also backed by my personal interest and passion for sauna. A really good sauna is like a temple for body and soul. Sauna recharges you with energy and relaxes you from tensions. It`s a place were time stops for a moment. A place for reflection and clarity from the daily struggles. There are so many scientifically backed benefits of saunas also - both for your physical and psychological well being.
